His lifelong interest in photography began when he was a teenager, taking pictures for local businesses and on long trips to Italy in support of his studies of Italian art. Born in England, he was educated at Framlingham College and went on to gain MA (Hons) in English & Fine Art at Peterhouse, Cambridge.
